Financial Freedom
The ability to live life on your terms, with security, flexibility, and full control over your income, expenses, and future.
The philosophy
Money is a tool, not a scoreboard. The point is not a bigger number, it is what the number lets me do.
Optionality. Having enough set aside means I can say yes to the right things and no to the wrong ones.
Enjoy the road. Getting there should not mean putting life on hold for a decade.
Intentionality over deprivation. Spend freely on what I love, and cut what I do not care about.
The math
A common rule of thumb is the 25x rule: once your investments reach about 25 times what you spend in a year, you can live off them by withdrawing around 4% a year. It is a starting point, not a guarantee, but it turns a vague dream into a number you can work toward.
The process
Track everything. Know where every dollar goes.
Spend on purpose. Every expense should earn its place.
Index the difference. Invest what is left in broad, low-cost index funds.
Stay the course. No gambles, no timing the market, no panic selling when it dips.
Questions I am still pressure-testing
What withdrawal rate is actually safe for an early retirement.
How much a below-market rent helps, and what changes when it ends.
How taxes on withdrawals change the number you need.
